Some days its just to hot (or smokey if you’re in wildfire regions) that it is best to keep our little wildlings indoors where its cool. But what are they to do all day to stay busy and prevent them from absolutely destroying every room in the house? here are a couple of fun ideas,
- Ice Excavation
using a silicone mold or other flexible container, fill withe water and small toys or items such as small plastic bugs or dinosaurs. Freeze and then give chop sticks, metal spoons and spray bottles with warm water to help dig and melt the ice.

2. Indoor Treasure Hunt
Hide small toys, stickers, or snacks around the house and make simple clues or picture maps for younger kids.
3. Living Room Obstacle Course
Use pillows, tape lines, chairs, and blankets for jumping, crawling, balancing, and racing.
4. Painter’s Tape Roads
Create roads and parking lots on the floor with painter’s tape for toy cars, animals, or bikes.
4. Dance Freeze Party
Play upbeat music and pause randomly so everyone freezes in silly poses.
5. Indoor Camping Day
Build a blanket fort, use flashlights, read stories, and have picnic snacks inside.
6. Kitchen Science Experiments
Try baking soda volcanoes, rainbow milk, or homemade slime for simple STEM fun.
7. Movie Theater Afternoon
Make tickets, popcorn, blankets, and let kids “host” the movie experience.
8.Toy Wash Station
Fill bins with soapy water and let kids wash toy cars, animals, or plastic toys with sponges and toothbrushes.
9. Bake-Off Competition
Let them decorate cupcakes, make mini pizzas, or invent wild snack combinations.
10. DIY Dance Dance Revolution (My kid’s favourites!!)
How to play:
1. Tape yellow, blue, green and red pieces of colored paper to the floor
2. Type in “tapete de movimiento” into YouTube
3. Have your kids step on the colors that show up on the tv (there are different levels that get increasingly more challenging)
